Vympel's R-77 BVRAAM Revealed

The R-77 BVRAAM is currently operational with the Indian Air Force's Su-30MKI and MiG-21Bison combat aircraft, and will in future also be on-board the Indian Navy's MiG-29K, as well as on the 'Tejas' LCA and on the IAF's to-be-upgraded MiG-29s.

some people have doubts about the russian seekers of various russian
missiles and they call r77 seeker an old seeker ,using this seeker
r77 can engage other missiles and guided munitions etc

but how old they don't know and how does it compares to other missiles seekers
    can u justify that

only BVR missile currently r in large number amraam 120c,aa12,aa10
    varients in various countries

AND how many MICAS r there

    indian government had problem when
    rosoboronexport increased the price
of mi17v5 by 200 million and v wanted to renegotiate hard

    ok

    then y didn't v negtiated about the 2.2 billion deal for P8I
    and 1.2 billion for c130j

    like harpoon deal 370 million

isn't it exorbitant price for just 6 c130j and just 8 P8I so y didn't v bargained hard like in case of
    mi17

y did govt. accepted american offer immidiately without bargain

ISN'T the 3.4 billion offer to USA
enough cuz they r not trusted yet and blind faith on them is not good

and iaf want c17 isn't it too costly or v have only guts to bargain with russkies only

  3. So how does this match up with Astra?

  4. LOL the second brochure looks so stupid full of typos. typical of Russians.

  5. Max, from what 've heard thus far from MBDA regarding the Astra, its R & D path is going to the same as that for the Baral-2 LR-SAM, i.e. the airframe and propulsion system being developed by the DRDO while MBDA chips in with the navigation and guidance electronics off-the-shelf. Also, the Russians in their R-88 presentations have adopted the Mica EM as their main competitor, and not the AIM-120C. One should also note that when MBDA starts mass-producing the Meteor starting next year, missiles like the Mica EM will not be regarded as state-of-the-art.

  11. No, I'm not a Malaysian citizen, and I reside in southern Thailand. I'm a PR there. Only go to Malsysia from time to time on very short trips to visit friends there. Rock on!

    ReplyDelete
  12. So it means you are an Indian Citizen with Thai PR status?

    you too!

  13. Sorry about the false info but thats what i heard sir. i heard you are related to some politician and have a aircraft maintenance company in malaysia.

  14. No I'm not an Indian citizen but have got Thai PR status. And since the folks at TEMPUR are my friends I help then out with the English Section of the magazine only through my editorial contributions. I never wanted to engage in any business activity in Malaysia, especially in the aviation business industry, because the private business environment in Thailand in this area, especially in terms of easy availability of skilled technical manpower, is far better than in either Malaysia or Singapore. In Indonesia things are improving and I've already started doing some business there.

  15. so of what nationality are you? Not Thai, not Malaysian, not Indian.. Indon?

prasun, incorrect. everything in astra will be indian including navigation electronics and fuzing but we will take help from a friednly country for seeker.

  19. @Prasun

Why should you hear from MBDA regarding Astra? How's it connected? I thought it is developed in house isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  20. The Astra is being developed jointly by te DRDO and MBDA, just like the Barak-2 is being co-developed by the DRDO & RAFAEL/IAI.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Prasun

Who says? I thought Astra is developed in house. Do you have any sources to back your claim? Because I seriously doubt it. I know the Astra looks somewhat like the Matra R-530 missile but that doesn't mean it is a JV.

    Regarding Barak-II i know its a Indo-Israeli JV.

    Thanks
