sir, kindly brief us about India's UAV plans.

What is happening to Nishant? Is it in service? What's the update about the RUSTOM?

Looking to hear from you.

Well, if we are to believe every word of the DRDO, then do pick up the latest print issue of FRONTLINE (and not the on-line version) and you will see there an advertorial published by DRDO and talking about ADE & DARE, etc. In that, the DRDO claims that the Nishant UAV is being exported to Singapore, and the Tarang radar warning receiver, it seems, is undergoing flight-testing on the MiG-21 Bison, and there's no mention at all of what kind of indigenous RWR is on board the Su-30MKI. That's the DRDO for you!!!

Prasun,
Thanks for AERO & POF product details.
Please clarify if all these products are indeed developed indigenously by AERO & POF ?
Or the base versions were the products from Chinese origin and AERO & POF have done some improvements over those and now being produced indigenously?
Also please clarify % level of indigenization achieved by AERO and POF for these products.

Thanks,

"Nishant UAV is being exported to Singapore"

Sir, today is not April fool's day. LOLZ

"if we are to believe every word of the DRDO"

OK i'm no pro in this stuff sir, but is "FRONTLINE" trustable? Do you believe DRDO? Why should they bluff I wonder...

What u say?
----------------------------------

Ok forget DRDO. What do you say about India's UAV plans, Nishant, RUSTOM etc.

Sontu, these products by AERO were all co-developed by Pakistan & Turkey, and not with China. The PAF's C4I/ADGES system is called the RABTA, which was also exported by AERO to Bangladesh in 2005. The POF-built MBT ammo's FSAPDS KE penetrator rods were co-developed with China's NORINCO.

Dev, I too feel hilarious about the DRDO advertorial. But you have to see it and read it to believe it. Same for the Tarang RWR, which has already been flying on the MiG-21 Bison, Su-30MKI and Sea Harrier FRS Mk51 for the past few years. It is not FRONTLINE's error or fault, as it is only printing what the DRDO has given it as an advertorial (meaning it was written by DRDO personnel, and not by FRONTLINE's editorial team). Therefore, one can only conclude that the DRDO's publicity cell itself does not know what's going on within the DRDO!

What else is there to mention about Nishant or Rustom UAVs? Nishant is already in series production while the DRDO is still tinkering with the Rustom.

Pakistan seeking friends’ help to counter drones’

KARACHI: Pakistan is talking to ‘friendly countries’ to acquire surface-to-air missile technology to counter US drone attacks in the Tribal Areas, Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said on Tuesday. Mukhtar said the parliamentary committee on national security would meet next month to make plans for safeguarding the country’s sovereignty. He said Al Qaeda was “the greatest danger for all of us”, and that the government will not reduce the defence budget. staff report

System to hit drones will be ready in a year’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani scientists will develop a sophisticated system to hit highflying spy planes within a year, Federal Defence Production Minister Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi said on Tuesday. He told a private TV channel that Pakistan already had a radar system to locate and destroy spy planes but it had a limited capacity. “Concerted efforts are underway to enhance the capacity to target the intruding planes,” he said. app

prasunji, whats in ur left pocket in that pic? is that ur helicopter?

The Uqaab and Bravo UAVs were showcased way back in 2002. Nothing new about them and they are of limited value only as target drones. The Falco UAV entered service last year with two PAF squadrons--one each at Peshawar and Saragodha--with another four squadrons set to be created for the Falco in future. The Falco UAV for the Pakistan Army will in future be equipped with the PicoSAR synthetic aperture radar for battlespace surveillance.

Regarding the so-called SAM for countering UAVs, the Pakistan Army is going to acquire the TY-90 SHORADS that can be sited on mountain tops/ridgelines and can also be carried by light helicopters. It is something like a Mistral ATAM, with a stabilised optronic turret being used for target acquisition.

As regards the acquisition of SAMs to shoot down intruding US UCAVs I fail to understand how exactly Pakistan would employ them operationally, since shooting down of any such UCAV will result in the US carpet-bombing Pakistan back to the stone age; and secondly, how can Pakistan shoot down a US-owned UCAV that is taking off from undisclosed airfields well within Pakistan? I know of at least one such airfield that exists within Swat Valley itself and which is totally US-manned.

The existence of Predator/Reaper bases within Swat Valley is fairly public knowledge as it was reported when the US CJCS Admiral Mike Mullen visited one of them during his last trip to Pakistan, sometime in October I think.
Will try to post a bigger pix as soon as I get one. I'm not used to getting myself photographed as I tend to spend more time taking photos of products/displays/posters/info boards during expositions. Anyway, will try to oblige you later. Good night.

RAAD is not a command APC (that is named SAAD) but a recce vehicle which can also be fitted with ATGM's. The Battle Field Management System on Al-Khalid is not developed by East-West Infinity Pvt Ltd. but by Care Pvt Ltd., although East-West Infinity Pvt Ltd. has also been marketing a similat solution. The C4I Rabta system is a complete AERO product and Turkish/China have nothing to do with it. (AERO is associated with AWC and these products are based on the experience of Pakistani Air Force engineers who had been working on PAF's Air Defence Ground Enviornment for past many many years).

public knowledge to you maybe. i admit you are really knowledgable in this stuff (do u study this stuff for thesis)?, but its not public knowledge to at least me, an my family and many others i have spoken to. so please just gimme a source where i can read up. if there isnt then does pak know of these bases and were they built with paks knowledge and consent?

pls, i wont be asking you if its 'public knowledge' as you say. but i really wanna know more.

YOU SHOULD SHUT THIS BLOG DOWN AND OPEN A WEBSITE.

MOST OF THE TIME NOBODY COMMENTS IN RELATION TO THE TOPIC IN QUESTION.

YOU ARE REALLY KIND TO SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE YOU HAVE ALTHOUGH ITS A TEDIOUS JOB.

SO I SUGGEST U OPEN A WEBSITE. YOU CAN HAVE NEWS ET ALL BUT ALSO HAVE A DISCUSSION AREA WHERE YOU ANSWER PEOPLES QUESTION JUST AS YOU DO HERE.

ADVANTAGE IS YOU CAN MAKE GOOD MONEY FROM ADS.

ALSO PLS DEDICATE IT FOR INDIAN DEFENCE SCENE ONLY AND NOT PAKISTAN, CHINA AND EVEN UNHEARD COUNTRIES LIKE MALASIA.

THINK ABOUT IT

Mr PKS, you said Nishant is already in series production. Do you have the numbers, and its role, and also its employment?

i.e. How many are contracted / inducted (I heard only 12), what's its use and who uses them (and where, Kashmir / training ...), and of course how widely are they deployed.

thank you
