IL-76MF's Turbofan Options

By the way, the IAF's existing IL-76MDs can also be subjected to a life-extension programme, can be re-engined, and can also be retrofitted with glass cockpits similar to the ones being proposed for the fleet of An-32B tactical transports.

prasun, what about the AN-32?

The An-32B fleet too will be subjected to a life-extension programme and will involve airframe zero-lifing of each aircraft, installation of glass cockpit avionics, and possibly incorporation of new six-bladed propellers like the ones on the C-130J, C-27J, E-2T Hawkeye, etc. The engine/powerplant will remain the same.

prasun, how about AN-26?

Prasun K Sengupta said...

What about it? I don't think the IAF has to bother about the An-26 as it doesn't operate any of them.

oh i see.. so then how about AN-22?

Prasun K Sengupta said...

What about the An-22? Even the Russians have decommissioned them. Samr goes for An-12B as well.

oh right. what about AN-38 then?

v should use new PS90A engines on out il76 as upgrade and these new engines will make the aircraft capable of carryiny higher load

v don't need new heavy lift aircraft for now just use newer engines and it will work for upto 2030

just like US upgrading its b52 and c 5 galaxy till 2040 and il78 is newer than these aircraft

what u say

the cfm56 engine doesn't seems to b working now cuz the present scenerio between russia and NATO
is that good

I agree. There's room for operating both the existing but upgraded IL-76MDs as well as going for new-build IL-76MFs. Even the IL-78MKI-90s can be dual-tasked and made use of as both aerial refuelling tankers as well as cargo transports, especially for disaster-relief operations.

to everyone

how many people think that iaf should go for c17 with a price of
217 million for each plane

and how many people think that iaf should buy apache helo for 22 helicopter requirement cuz

south korea bought

"24 APACHES FOR 811 MILLION DOLLARS AND THAT WAS 60% LESS THAN THE ACTUAL FACTORY PRICE"

AND IAF rfp is $500million for 24 combat helos

u do thknk

australia bought 4 c17 aircraft and its assotiated spares and equipment for $ 1.49billion

and v bught 6 c130j for $1.2 billion

isn't it unjstified for us that each c17 cost over 200million
AND each c130j cost around
70-80 million

and canada bought 17 c130j30 aircraft for $ 1.4billion dollars

so y v bought only 6 c130j for exorbitant $1.2billion

Prasun, what about AN-38 then?

The multirole Be-200 can be configured as an amphibious water drop fire-fighting aircraft, a freighter, or as a passenger aircraft - the pressurised and air conditioned cabin allowing transportation of up to 72 passengers. The Be-200 can also be equipped for special missions. When configured as an air ambulance, the aircraft can carry up to 30 stretcher patients and seven seated patients or medical crew. In the search and rescue role, the aircraft can be equipped with searchlights and sensors, an inflatable boat, thermal and optical surveillance systems, and medical equipment. The search and rescue variant can accommodate up to 45 persons. The aircraft is also capable of being configured for anti-submarine warfare duties.
