some questions

is there r74 missile which will replace r73

is r 73e a new missile then older
r73

also how does the AA10 IR matches
MICA IR

and how does the aa10 IR seeker matches MICA IR seeker

i have heard that russia is going to use r 73 seeker on r 27 missile cuz r73 seeker provides better off boresight for target acquisition

this just shows how lazy vympel is.
they could have taken er version ins + datalink and fitted to et version, for long range ir missile. but no they didnt.
could have replaced r77 seeker into aa-10 er body. no they didnt.
aa-10 is old tech now. only good thing is long range for bvr.

r-73e= export version of r73
zhuk-me, positiv-me...same

better range, much cheaper
everything else worse

There is a new WVR missile R & D programme within Vympel that closely resembles the U-Darter of Denel Aerospace. It will reportedly have an imaging infra-red seeker of the kind that is already on board the Mica-IR, AIM-132 ASRAAM, AIM-9X, U-Darter and IRIS-T. But Vympel has yet to show off its new-generation optronic seekers during aerospace expos.
When comparing the seekers of the R-73E and Mica-IR, the latter is imaging infra-red, while the former is not. Therefore, even if the R-27T/ET has a longer range than the 60km+ range of the Mica-IR, the former's IR seeker is still vulnerable to IR countermeasures, while that of the Mica-IR will have greater resistance to such countermeasures.

what r the difference between semi active and active seeker

and what is the difference between
r77 and r27 seekers and which is better

this just shows how lazy vympel is.

but
sukhoi is much more active in upgrade of its fighters every few years new upgrade e.g
su27upgrade,su35,
su34,su30mkk,su30mki,su35bm etc

what r the difference between semi active and active seeker
semi active seeker seeker homes in on the reflected radar energy of the fighter radar which locks on to the target.

if fighter loses lock on, missile loses guidance
active seeker has its own mini radar at a particular distance it locks on to the target and attacks it. so fighter can launch missile in track while scan and does not need to lock onto target.

and what is the difference between
r77 and r27 seekers and which is better

r-77 it is fire and forget.
but remember, while more easily countermeasures can be used for sarh missiles, guidance radar also matters, if radar is sufficiently powerful, it is possible that the missile may come onto you anyways

lots of tricks..but little time to tell all..both SARH and Arh missiles can be used in variety of ways. but generally ARH is technology of today not sarh

ya but missile upgrades have not been so clear and well done

actually technology is changing very soon every 6-7 years newer tech comes into market cuz both MICA AND meteor r newer than r77 and aim120 and r27

r37 no match is there but i don't know y v have not inducted it into iaf cuz its in production but not sure about r172 when it will b available

but r77 and aim120c r of same time and 5-6 years old tech doesn't get old

by the way there will b two more competitiors to meteor US AND RUSSIA very soon

every country has its own lead in the tech field

mica is not as good as latest aim-120c7 and d versions. the r-37 wasnt inducted since it is a very heavy draggy missile with SARH made especially for zaslon radar. that means the radar has to pump out enuff energy for missile to work. meteor is still in trials.

prasun what happened to the much touted R-95 missile which you claim vympel whispered into your ears ?

------------------------------------------------
r 37 isn't draggy and has spped of mach 6 and it has to b heavy cuz
r77 and aim120 weigh almost 150 to 175 kg for providing range of less then 100 km

and r 37 provides range of 300km

and by the way BARS on su30mki is much more powerful than zaslon so there should b no problem with r37 and if IAF can use aa-8 or aa-27 till now so whats wrong with r37

also if there is question of MTCR
r37 doesn't breaks it and the only missile of its kind available right now which is in production

having this missile is better than having nothing of this capability
this is what i want say cuz pakis to acquire AWACS soon

To Anon@7:04AM: Who exactly told you that I've claimed Vympel whispered data on the 'much-touted R-95' into my ears? That sounds too spooky. FYI I'm neither a wannabe spook neither a secret service messenger. I have adequate technical/marketing data on the R-95 and R-177 AAMs as well as the SHORADS variant of the R-77 with me and I'll upload them along with related stories at the right time.

pls educate urself about cwi of bars vs zaslon. bars is more modern and effective. but its not optimized for super long range engagements wth SARH missiles
